Sustainability
As we all try to move to a more sustainable future, I think we are all looking for ways to be more thoughtful as we consume. Flowers and the wedding flower industry are not particularly eco-concious unless you buy locally grown flowers. Dried flowers are a really good way of making sure that you use what you buy, you enjoy it for as long as possible and replace it as infrequently as possible.
It’s always so amazing to hear stories from my couples on how they re-used their flowers after their wedding, or gifted the flowers to friends and family. I love to think of the flowers living on long after the wedding day. Bridesmaids bouquets can be given as gifts, buttonholes can be turned into keepsakes and table centrepieces used to decorate your home, or used again for your next event.
I want to acknowledge that there are also issues with dying and painting flowers but with dried flowers you can at least enjoy your flowers for years and years after your event, meaning there is no need to buy fresh flowers to replace them week-in week-out.
I believe that with dried and preserved flowers the consumption level is drastically reduced and that can only be a good thing.
In addition to buying UK grown dried flowers where possible, we recycle all our paper and plastic waste. We re-use all cardboard boxes that the flowers arrive in. Invariably dried flowers are delivered with brown paper or tissue around them whereas fresh flowers arrive in cellophane wrap. We recycle all the paper that we receive.
Our flowers are delivered to our weddings in a 100% electric vehicle.
Sustainability is an area that we are always striving hard to improve on and is always in our minds. We will continue to update you on our practices as we find ways to make better choices.
